Hello, I'm Gak. While I wasn't born in Kyoto, I chose this city as my base because of its deep cultural soul and timeless beauty.
I studied International Hospitality Management in the UK and spent over five years working in both the UK and Japan—in hotels, restaurants, and as a tour assistant. These experiences taught me how meaningful, warm hospitality can shape a traveler's entire journey.
During my time abroad, I met people from all over the world and realised how much I wanted to share the depth and nuance of Japanese culture in an authentic, respectful way. That's why I started Kyoto Guide Walk.
Kyoto isn't just a destination—it's a living story. I design each tour to help you feel that story at your own pace, guided by the spirit of ichigo ichie: the belief that every encounter is once-in-a-lifetime.

Yes, our tours can accommodate children, though they involve significant walking. The Traditional and Tranquil tour may be less engaging for young children. Please let me know children's ages when booking so we can adjust the pace and content appropriately.
Absolutely! Please inform us of any dietary restrictions when booking. I can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and most other dietary needs on our food tours, and will recommend appropriate food options throughout all our experiences.
Our standard tours are walking tours within central Kyoto areas, with no additional transportation required. Even for custom tours, I would not provide transportation services.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. We recommend bringing a water bottle, sunscreen in summer, and a small umbrella during rainy season. Some temple visits may require modest clothing (covering shoulders and knees). For food tours, come with an appetite!
